Gundam Evolution:Star Gazer[2006]C.E.73,after the dropping down of Jenus 7,Blue Cosmo took the oppurtunity to hunt down all the potential terrorists among the renegade Co-ordinators through force and using the above disaster as their justification,with the lead,Swen Carl Bayan,among them.Swen was originally came from a privilaged family before the death of his parents somewhat sent him to the camps established by Blue Cosmo in confusion.
Despite endured some of the toughest and the most unreasonable training,Swen somewhat lost his basic emotions through those trainings until he met his two comrades & friends,Myutee Holcroft & Shams Coza.During the hunting down of the renegade Co-ordinators,Myutee unfortunately lost her life through carelessness but it was not long when Swen & Shams were sent into space to capture a new type of Gundam,Star Gazer,which had the potential of travel across galaxy because of its efficiency in energy conversion that caught the attention of Blue Cosmo.
Despite not being a combat worthy Mobile Suit,Star Gazer was still capable of defeating the squadron of Mobile Suits but Swen was persistent in taking it down,so the pilot,Selena Markreef,decided to take a gamble by letting her collaegue fire the cannon at Star Gazer while she tried to immobilise Swen's Strike Noir with Star Gazer.Fortunately,Star Gazer survived the blow but was depleted of the energy and being pushed quite a considerable distance away from the space station so in order to survive,Swen decided to co-operate with Selena by letting her use the remaining energy of damaged Strike Noir to power Star Gazer and hopefully,able to return alive while both Swen & Selena hibernating in Star Gazer.
Undeniably,"Gundam Seed:Star Gazer" had some of the best quality in many aspects which were absent from "Gundam Seed: Destiny" but with the series limited to three episodes,some sacrifices were made such as the lack of the characterisation of Myutee & Shams besides having the short screen times.The series was set in the non-chronological order so to reflect the meaning of being alive from Swen enduring the unreasonable military training to Myutee & Shams becoming his friends and taught him how to socialise,besides Swen's childhood before the death of his parents.
The series can be a little slow for some fans but the quality of the series certainly won back some confidence.At the same time and with the return of Mr.Tomino,Sunrise decided to ambitiously retell the story of the original "Mobile Suit----Z Gundam" but with the usage of the latest animation technique hence their next project,"Mobile Suit----Z Gundam:A New Translation".
Side Note: If you sit through the closing credit of the series,you willl somewhat learn the fate of Swen & Selena like the end of the closing credit of "Mobile Suit----Gundam:The 08th MS Team".
