"Mobile War Saga----Gundam W[Wing]" in full.After the mixed success of "G Gundam",Sunrise decided to return to the root yet continue on to experiment to seek out more alternate style for their next series.Here's the story in summary:

In the near future after the proposal of space colonisation,the government put lots of funds into building space colonies with some people decided to migrate for another start as they helped building the colonies and the time was later changed to A.C.[After Colony].With an alternate option in space,the government even evicted the organisations,minorities and political prisoners deemed a threat to them to the space colonies which already enraged many people,compounded by yet to be curable diseases from space & unreasonable working environment in space,especially after the Earth government began to become ignorant to the people living in space.

With the space colony L1 having some of the best facility to produce alternate energy sources,Earth government demanded them to shared some of it before the whole situations deteriorated after the assassination of Heero Yuy,an aspiring public figure who could have solved those political issues before his assassination,hence the unreasonable imposement of No Weapon Policy by Earth government with that assassination as the convenient excuse which also allowed them to assmbled a special military force known as OZ.

Being fed up with all these nonsenses,a small enterprise known as Barton Enterprise secretly planned Opeartion Meteor by sending five new Mobile Suits developed by five scientists to thwarted the government,but not before OZ obtained the leaked information.Perhaps the biggest surprise they faced was the fact that these five new Mobile Suits capable of waging a one man war with ease especially they were built with super tough metal alloy known as Gundamium which earned them the name,Gundam,because of that unique alloy that only can be developed in zero gravity environment.To avoided being caught all together,all the pilots,Heero Yuy,Duo Maxwell,Trowa Barton,Quatre Rabeba Winner and Chang Wu Fei,were sent separately with each one of them not knowing the existent of other pilots until they met each other by chance and fought along side by side,especially after they learned the scientists who entrusted them the Gundams also happened to be good friends before they were separated and worked in secret.

Unfortunately,the invincible Gundams were no match to the political tactics that weren't favouring them especially after OZ had arrested all of the five scientists that had all five of them began to gone in hiding but fortunately,Heero happened to met Relena Dorlian,a former princess of Sang Kingdom & Peacecraft family before being wiped out by the government which saw it as a threat,while trying to rebuild this kingdom and she happily took in Heero & his comrades.Not willing to give up easily,the five scientists proposed to OZ that they were willing to design a better Mobile Suits for them as they tried to use the availabled resources to fight back while waiting for their chances.Seeing the current government as the incompetent fools,Treize Khushrenada,the head of OZ,decided to use the captured Relena to promise a better world coincided with Zechs Merquise,formerly known as Miliarudo Peacecraft and brother to Relena,challenging Treize's authority with supports from a terrorist group known as White Fang.

To fulfilled his promise of the better world,Treize personally accepted Zech's challenge by leading his own force personally with Heero,Duo,Trowa,Quatre & Wu Fei finally made the full return with the new Gundams secretly built by the five scientists as three factions began a nasty showdown.With the whole world concentrated on the war,the five scientists took advantage of the situation by detonated the engines of the cruiser used by White Fang to disabled it but not before a huge chunk of the remaining cruiser began to descent down to Earth,with the possibility of creating a nuclear winter when it crashed.As the final attempt,the remaining forces decided to help dismantling it but Heero finished the job beautifully by firing a well aimed shot with his Wing Zero's Twin Buster Rifle.After this war,Relena began to travel between Earth & space colonies as a peace diplomat with Heero constantly watching over her from the shadow as the other pilots began to start afresh in their new found home.

Compared with "G Gundam","Gundam Wing" proved to be more successful because of its return to the original root yet managed to established its own style.It might not have complicate political issues like the original Gundam series but it managed to attract the more casual fans and perhaps the biggest breakthrough is Relena Dorlian,a female character whose authority could easily change the history which is a quality most female characters are lack off and Relena even inspired the other Animes to include female characters with some degree of authority & importance,even not in the same level as Relena's.

Besides that,Sunrise also reversed the roles by portraying Earth government as the root of the evil in "Gundam Wing" whereas Spacenoids were the root of the evil in the original Gundam series.In the past,Gundams were portrayed as an unstoppable machine of destruction but in "Gundam Wing",Heero & the other pilot were almost being wiped out by OZ with Treize manipulated the politics that had them on the run constantly even they owned the invincible Gundams.This series also pointed out that it was impossible to defend a country without any weapon or power yet at the same time,too many of them could had the world sees that particular country as the thereat waiting to happen as even our real world has reflected.While "Gundam wing" was a success,Sunrise had no intention of abandoing the older fans and hardcore military enthusiasts so they decided to produce a sidestory set in the original Gundam universe known as "Mobile Suit----Gundam:The 08th MS Team".

Side Note: There was originally a plan to introduce the characters' pasts in the series but a clash made it impossible so those pasts were later put into a sidestory Manga titled "Mobile War Saga----Gundam Wing:Episode Zero".Not only it explained the story before the first episode of the Anime,you can more or less understood how each character's past made them what they were today so this is a very essential read in some extend.It also revealed the identity of the assassin,who ended Heero Yuy's life,as the gurdian of the young Heero before he met one of the scientist,with him constantly referred it as the biggest regret of his life after he learned the devastating effect of pulling the trigger.
